Sunset

The awesome and mesmerising sunset on 10,7,2020 at 1900 hours from my window. I love watching the sky and look out for displays like these. The beautiful hues of various colours painted across this canvas is truly art. Enjoy this presentation 🌈🌈🌈

GE 2020

GE lots of sharp edges and everyone tells their own stories and promises.

A son stands opposite the father's party. He should have done so when LKY is alive. Siblings confrontation not uncommon and to wash dirty linens in public, this also should happen when LKY is alive. I am just a bit heartache on all the ruckus caused by the family members over a property and it is none of the business of public but we are dragged into it. Knowing what human nature is like, many will add salt, pepper and the like.

LKY earned my respect. Being in the education arena, I know how children are like. There were times you need to be strict and direct. Love must come with wisdom and compassion. So at the end you are seen as a controlling figure. It is as always “I cannot get my way “ and you are bad. There will be the obedience, the wise, the never mind, the follow blindly and surely the rebellious.

My mum said gratitude is priceless and the sufferings the older folks endured not something we younger ones treasure. We make noises with little discomfort and I can imagine when it comes to sufferings. Isn’t it that’s what we saw during this pandemic.

Now we have many imports and what are their agenda? Should we all go through all the sufferings again and let's see if we can find another brilliant LKY to lead or sink in garbages. We saw all the physical and verbal attacks in other countries government. Really bad examples that adults behaved these ways and shared on social media. Monkeys see monkeys do without thinking.

Good luck Singaporean to your wise choice.

Stay Home Stay Safe

I have not left home since Thursday 9th March 2020 night.

From sitting room to bedroom to kitchen to dinning rooms. From sofa to my big bean bag to bed. My prayer room and prayer beads. My prayer beads is my constant companion at home.

The fridge filled with meat, veggies, fruits, snacks, ice cream and eggs. I locked myself in. Purpose not to give others problems and to put myself in danger. Let the Doctors and nurses save those that need them and I don't want to add on.

My iPad and Handphone are my contact with loved ones and to get updates of news. My heart is with All sufferings in hospitals and at home. I watched my feelings and I knew it is not easy when it's so habitual to move around.  Fortunately for me, I am used to stay home.

Covid-19 is not going to let us off easily. I am blessed to be living in Singapore.  I thank PM Lee HL and the Government for doing what they thought best. YES, when people are deprived of income and food, it will be chaotic on top of Covid-19. A rise in crime is not helpful at this moment.

All compounded things will end. Stay calm.

Night Sky

Left work at about 7pm on 23 May 2018. It drizzled earlier on and the road was wet. The street lamps were turned on and the lights from the cars against the night sky were beautiful. The red/ orange clouds at the horizon kept me captivated. The buzzing traffic kept my eyes on the road. Since I bought a car, I missed the days I am being ferried here and there. However it is nothing like you are in control at the wheel and it gives a sense of security. Life is also like that. We cannot leave our life in the hands of others.

Many based their happiness on how others reacted to them. They became a puppet and happiness and sadness became pitiful. NO, we do not need to be dependable. I realized like birth and death, we are always alone. It is the Path we take alone where no one can come with us.

M.I.A

I have been missing from here for a long time. Time changes and so does people. Writing blog takes effort and research and at the same time one must have something to share or say. During these times I am bogged down with work and various activities. I also realized that the heart feeling changed with time. What is so important last time is no longer a priority now. Taking up a job with children bring me much joy. I learn from these kids and learnt that they think differently. What adult comprehend they comprehend otherwise. Kids are not that simple. I never understand why some kids are rebellious, naughty, hyper, talkative, autism, ADHD etc. but now I do.

Molding a child is important. They are the by product of many factors - parents, school, environment, teachers, friends, media etc. and many more. Punishment administered also build a child - are they being understood and did the adults hear them right......

From physical development, to motor skills, behavioral changes and social emotion. We also have to monitor their moral development.

Bringing up a child is an education itself.

My thoughts...for my siblings and friend

Do not speak ill of the Sangha. It is not for lay people to judge. What you see and hear with your senses are influenced by perceptions of others. Don't be self righteous and think you can set the wrong right. There is a season for happening. Let the lesson of Ven. Ananda with Buddha be a constant reminder. Do not split the relationship of the Sangha by speaking bad to one and the other. I bet you cannot afford the price...Cause & Effect. Who is real and who is fake... how do you know? We take vows and think it is a Joke because we never take it seriously. Practice humbly, sincerely and self contained. Remember your vow to liberate Sentient Beings...you are one of them, not only those out there. Your Dharma brothers and sisters are link you have created yourself, save all the discrimination or you will not have met them. Whether it is a good or bad connection we have to understand it is our doings.

Hanging to a wrong already committed cannot be rewind. Constant verbal abuses and bringing up will only hurt and hurting oneself the most. 'Letting go' is a big word but be kind to oneself. I too have hurts applied on me by others and so called 'blood is thicker than water' so I understand your pain. How long are we going to live? To return a karmic debt is painful but fortunately we follow the Buddha so aren't we lucky?

I do not have the wisdom of the Buddha but I always remind my Brother Kelly and Sister Judy of these. I am not rich and I have no wealth to give them BUT I can show them the Teachings of Buddha which will give them liberation and eternal happiness...it is the biggest fortune that money cannot buy. For Eggs lovers...

Some good  news for eggs lovers like me. Eggs any type, any time of the day are always yummy!!

The seemingly simple eggs have a rich nutritional profile that can boost your overall health. Eating whole eggs is vital for your health – the yolk contains over 90% of the egg’s iron and calcium content, while the white contains half of the egg’s protein. Here are 10 reasons why you should eat eggs every day:

Eggs improve performance Eggs are a highly satiating food – a single egg contains about 6 gr. of protein and a variety of vitamins and minerals although without vitamin C, which is why it’s recommended to drink fresh fruit juice along eggs and whole grain bread for breakfast.

Eggs can resolve your iron deficiency People suffering from mild iron deficiency have reported symptoms of fatigue, headaches and irritability, but eggs can help you in this case due to their high heme iron content found in their yolk. Heme iron is the most absorbable and usable type of iron in food – it’s even more absorbable than iron supplements.

They improve the nutrient adequacy of the diet Eggs are a valuable contributor to nutritious diets thanks to their nutrient density. According to a study, people who don’t consume eggs havea shortage of vitamins A, B12 and E. On the other hand, eggs have supplied 10-20% of folate and 20-30% of vitamins A, B12 and E in the diet of egg consumers. This study clearly shows the important role of eggs in your diet.

Eggs don’t increase the cholesterol levels 20 years ago, eggs were scrutinized due to their high cholesterol content, but, numerous recent studies have found no connection between consumption of eggs and coronary artery disease. Foods high in saturated fats and trans fats can raise your cholesterol levels and harm your health, but eggs are not in the same group – they are an excellent source of protein, which is not harmful to your body.

Eggs promote weight loss Eating eggs and toast for breakfast have a 50% higher satiety index than a bowl of cereal. Many studies have shown that an egg for breakfast increases the satiety in overweight people and can stimulate weight loss.

Eggs promote brain health Choline is an important nutrient that ensures proper brain development in fetuses and newborns. It can be found in high amounts in eggs – 1 egg a day can provide about 28% of a pregnant woman’s choline requirements. This nutrient is very important during pregnancy and lactation, as its reserves in the body are depleted at that time. Animal studies have shown that the memory function of aged rats was determined by what their mothers ate during pregnancy, which shows how important eggs are during the 9-month period.

Eggs prevent cataract and protect your eyesight Regular consumption of eggs, spinach and broccoli is related to cataract and age-related lens and retinal degeneration decrease, which is the main cause of blindness in older people. Eggs are an excellent source of lutein and zeaxanthin, two antioxidants which protect your eyes from many diseases. Getting proper supply of them is crucial for proper eyesight.

Eggs are the best source of protein Protein is one of the central elements in our diet, and it can be found in high amounts in eggs. Protein consists of certain amino acids which cannot be produced by the body and must be derived from our diet. A complete protein food contains all of the 9 essential amino acids which are used to build and repair tissues. Although milk and meat are complete proteins, eggsare considered the best protein source. Compared to eggs, which have a 100 protein rating, milk is rated at 83 while meat is rated at 75. A single egg has the same protein content as 30 gr. of meat, fish or poultry, and it’s also the cheapest protein source among them.

Eggs protect our bones Eggs are rich in vitamin D, one of the most important vitamins our body needs. We obtain some of our daily allowance of vitamin D from the sun, and the rest from our food. This vitamin is vital for calcium absorption and maintaining proper bone health, so eating eggs and dairy products regularly is crucial for protecting our bones from osteoporosis and similar bone diseases.

Eggs improve the quality of our hair and nails Biochemical imbalances and shortages in the body are reflected in the hair, but eating eggs regularly can promote healthy hair due to their high content of Sulphur-containing amino acids. Many people have reported faster hair growth after incorporating eggs in their diet, especially if their previous diet didn’t include foods rich in zinc, Sulphur and vitamins A and B12.

INDIA TRIP 2015 (1)

This is a much waited trip for me. The last time I was there was like so so long ago but I never forget that I was there with Lama Zopa Rinpoche, Late Ribur Rinpoche, Late Lama Konchok and Dharma friends. I was then ignorant and did not place important significant to this visit.

However after so many years, once again it rekindled my wanting to visit the Land of Buddha, walked the ground he and all Bodhisattvas paced, remember the merits and greatness of Buddha and thank him for leaving behind a legacy - the Path to Enlightenment.

We left on 1st October and returned on 16th October 2015. We are grateful to Khenpola Ngwang Gylasten and Lama Tenzin (both from Sakya, Daradun India) for guiding us on this meaningful trip. In all there are only 8 of us, a small but cohesive group. We set foot on this journey which brings more meaning and awareness to me this time. Khenpola is not a tour agent so we just follow our hearts to where we want to go.

Upon arriving India, we were booked into WangDu Guest House in Delhi which is ran by a Tibetan family. A small setup but consist of a fantastic eatery. We were here for 2 days.

1) Our 1st visit - SANKISSA. It is a long journey which took us early before sunrise and returned late at 9pm. The journey is even further than Agra and not easy to find. We asked around and the drivers took us to our destination. The place where Buddha descended from Heaven after teaching to his Mother and Beings of the heavenly realms. We did our prayers, offerings and walked the ruined. There is nothing much here but a small shrine, an elephant monument but it has a meaning. Buddha taught us filial piety.

2) The next day we left for Bodhgaya. In Bodhgaya we stayed at Kriti Lodge, 5 minute walk to Mahabodhi Temple. We spent 4 days in this location. We managed to offer robe to the Buddha and also pearls.

Mahabodhi Temple and the Seat of Enlightenment

3) While in Bodhgaya, we visited Sujata Village and Mahakala Cave.

Tracing history and reliving and recalling the Buddha teachings - Remembering the Four Noble Truth and not forgetting our Bodhicitta. (jounery to be continued)

“Buddha said
When you see through a person, you need not expose him”
By doing so you learnt the lesson of Forgiving
When you Dislike a person and keep your Cool
You will earn respect
In Living, there will be people you cannot agree with or people you dislike
Being Mature does not mean you have lived longer than others
Or you have taken more path or you have more failures
It is about LETTING GO
When you realized and let go, you are letting go Defilements
The Pain and Suffering of everyone
Will not be erased over time
It is whether one wants to share the sufferings
Some deep inner scars are hidden not because one don't care about it
It is silently facing the pain and pacifying oneself to understand the Truth
Coming to this age
It is not whom you are comfortable with or uncomfortable with
Even with Friends, so when one is tired just 'hibernate' and keep away
You will pass the age of Dislike and Like
It is easier to make oneself Happy than making others Satisfied
There is a saying…
I rather be Lonely than do things that is against my Principle
People who comes into my heart, I will keep them as Treasure
People who keep away, I will not beg -
when Affinity is low although my Love is deep
So when one is sad, there is not need to lament to others
They will not understand nor feel your pain
So look up at the Sky above
It is so spacious and endless and it embraces the whole YOU
So if one is sad…no need to lament to others
Because there are Pain which only you will know and feel
So if one is sad… no need to pretend that you are happy
Giving other happiness doesn’t mean you need to forget your own pain
So who have not suffered Pain, and
Who remembers?
Things passed is gone and will not return
If you really want to pretend, than be the one who is HAPPY
We walk this Path of Sufferings
and must learn to endure the Pain

May we All achieved inner peace

Healthy and Yet Dangerous Food

I am not a health fanatic but I do try to eat healthy. The above food are things that we are drilled that they are good for us but wait till you see what they will do to you.

1) Celery Celery is a vegetable that we all love to eat it raw or cooked. Many of us usually have left over food which we eat the next day. Here is the problem...reheating celery will cause it to release a harmful nitrites which is poisonous to our body.

2) Virgin Olive Oil You may heat you frying pan with this and frying eggs, steak, bacon etc. However do you know that when the oil is heated to a point where smokes arise, that is when it becomes carcinogenic.

3) Hard-boiled Eggs These are cooked egg and therefore should be eaten if possible they day it is made. Many of us love Stewed Pork and Hardboiled egg and the eggs are reheated again and again. This is a no no because reheated eggs are toxic!

4) Mushrooms Fried it with oyster sauce of simply stir-fried and it is yummy. Well like the above, reheating these are also poisonous. If you have left overs, eat it cold.

5) Tomatoes We all love a tomato and they are not poisonous. However if you pluck it from your garden, make sure to do not eat the leaf and the stalk. It contains a toxic called tomatine.

6) Kidney Beans Some buy and some make it themselves. Well here is the bad news - It contain a poison named Phytohaemagglutin. Kidney beans need to be boil properly so suggestion is you buy the canned ones and don't take it lightly.

7) Rhubarb - Vegetable Fortunately this is not common in Singapore. The part that can be eaten in the stem and the part that kill is the leave. The leave looks like yam leaf .

8) Wild Almond Not common in Singapore. Anyway we travel a lot and please remember that wild almond contain cyanide when eaten in large quantity.

9) Cherry Well it is cherry season now. Plenty of them are sold everywhere BUT remember do not bite the pit/ seed. Don't break it because it contain hydrogen-cyanide which kills.

10) Green Potatoes No easily found here in Singapore. Like I said we travel a lot so be careful. It is not your mashed potatoes or your green French fries, it kills. These green potatoes contain a toxin named solanine and it will cause vomiting. I may also cause cardiac arrest if taken in large quantities.

11) Apple An apple a day keeps the doctor away. This healthy fruit also has it poison. It is in the apple seeds. The small seed contain a small amount of amygdalin when combined with our stomach enzyme will produce hydrogen cyanide. It takes 100-200mg of this to kill an adult with minutes. Be wary.

There are many more but I hope this will served as a reminder. All these food look harmless but they are not if eaten carelessly. Wishing all those reading this have a healthy life.

FRIENDS...

This picture and the quote touched my heart. There are many types of people in the world and all our friends are not the same. Some are vocal, some emotional, some secretive and there are some who are not able to express their sufferings.

Many times we take friends for face value. They look fine to you and seems like all is going well in front but we never have the time in our hectic daily life to really care.

I thank friends who tell me they are going through a difficult time. It is not that they asked you for help nor do they need your advise. They just need a shoulder.

Recently a dharma sister told me that she had contacted virus and she ran a non stop fever for a few days. It hurts her breathing as well. We are not close friends but I knew she trusted me to tell me. I did not bombard her with SMS or call her zealously. Occasionally I dropped her a short SMS to see how is she. I am glad I saw her active and babbly again in the temple.

Another friend is going through a relationship breakdown. We knew but she is not telling. From her frame and the expression on her face and the way she avoided people, we knew. However we are not going to run after her and try to find out. We suffer in silent with her, watching her and ready to give her a hand when she needs it. We pray that she has the strength to pull through.

We do not know at any one time we may be in a situation which we need help. We should not assumed that all our friends are well. Therefore I stay alert.

All compounded things are impermanent
All stained emotions brings pain
All phenomena are empty
Nirvana is Peace

SINGAPORE is mourning....

This morning Singapore woke up to the sad news that our Founding Father and the 1st Prime Minister of Singapore, Mr. Lee Kuan Yew passed on at the age of 91.

When news of his health conditions worsen, many Singaporean prayed for his recovery. Singapore hoped that Mr. Lee will stay with us to see the SG50 celebration. Mr. Lee deserved the honor because he took us from rag to what we are today.

Below is what the late Mr. Lee said....

He has given up so much for this Nation. We grew up safe and sheltered with his firmed hands. Now, we will have to see how we protect this Nation without the guidance of this wonderful man.

Thank you, Mr Lee, our family are forever grateful to you for giving Singaporean a safe haven. May you Rest In Peace.

Good Bye!

Missing in Action

It has been some time since I last posted. Many things happened and I cannot find time to do my posting.

In life we do on and off take a break from our normal routine. It is healthy. It is also human that we will look for new things to keep our interest and mind occupied.

Recently I changed a job and just started with them a few weeks ago. I have not done accounting before but this posting required me to use an accounting systems. This is something new to me but it is interesting. I just need to get use to it.

This is my first time working with a manufacturing firm and there are lots to learn about the products listing and the production line. The various products, designs, colors, fabric, accessories are something really new to me. The most important thing is, at least I am busy from the time I step into office and until I call it a day.

Finding a job sometimes need luck. I saw this posting online and decided to walk-in. This is a private company and therefore I met the bosses who happened to be around. Rarely people trust their judgement but they did not look at my qualifications. From our chatting they probably gathered my working experiences and my ability to fulfill their needs. From the minute I walked out, I knew I have the job.

This is also the blessings of the Buddha. I have prayed for a job with understanding Bosses. Tara's indications are it will happened naturally and no need to worry about it. True enough it happened. I completed my contract on 31st Jan 2015, interviewed this job on 3rd Feb and started work on 9th Feb 2015. There is no chance for a break and no chance to prepare for Chinese New Year.

Since this new posting is not a contract but a permanent posting, I will be able to work as long as I want. The Bosses are nice and I count my blessings. Do you like my new seat above?

Wishing everyone a peaceful and safe 2015.

Meeting the Tiger...

Actually I do not want to talk about this case because it is under fire and still hot on the daily news. However I remember I read somewhere, "the more you dig, the smell will get from bad to worst". It is true, just because of one case and all those that have suffered silently stepped up to air their woes.

This case of cheating retailers (not that it is new) happened everywhere in the world. I felt that if I am being cheated, it just shows that I am ignorant. I buy something without checking on the prices and comparing them. Again, buying something and needing a warranty is to protect against faulty item. To sign on papers has nothing to do with you being educated or uneducated, it is whether you understand the implications and at the same time the COST of signing papers. Do we read? Foreigners became scapegoats to this unlawful practices because they are here for a short stay. I supposed many went home suffering. Most of the time these people worked so hard, save a bit of money and hoping to get a toy (handphone in this case) to make himself happy and got stuck with such unhappy memories. It really damaged the reputation of the Country.

The scam at Sim Lim Square is a shame. It is like human borne in perfect human form but do not act like one, what a waste. I first read that the errant retailer throw refund monies on the floor for the poor customer to pick up - mind you in different denominations coins! Is it fun to see people stoop so low to pick up their monies? What type of gratification is this? It is a mockery of others dignity. Again within the same week another customer was cheated. He had to knee down to beg for refund! I could not bring myself to see the video which went viral. My heart ached.

This person who ran the shop, what sort of upbringing he has? I wondered the school he went to. I wondered what is his value as a human, as a son, as a responsible citizen, as a husband, as a father and as a friends? Looking at the way he behaves, it is understandable that his motivation is to make money, more money and more more money irregardless how he does it. This person have no sympathy, I don't want to say compassion (compassion is too big a word for him).

In here I saw the swift reaction of KARMA - what goes around comes around. Now the whole Singapore is after him - he angered Singaporean by his behaviours. All the "smelly" transactions are out in the open. I am amazed at netizens and the power of internet. They found all his personal particulars, where he lives, whom is his wife and what is her job. They even found where his mother is selling cooked food. Just because of his behaviors, he  subjected his family members to shame, harassment and caustic comments.

He did not apologized and obviously did not regret. He went into hiding. He sold his shop and continue to live a life and hoping the case will blow over. He will start his business all over again, in another name or use others name and continue to make his fortune.

Thanks to him, more and more retailers are now being targeted of error retailing, how about that? Singaporean should thank him for exposing not only himself and other retailers too. This will make it easy to do a one time cleaning of all retailers! I Kudos Jover Chew. He is an overnight celebrity.

A Chinese proverb..."going up the mountain too often will surely meet a Tiger".

My Four Boyfriends...

I have four boyfriends with me all the time and I love all four of them. However as in human weaknesses, of course there is a degree of affection.

I love my 4th boyfriend the most. I showered him with the most expensive and branded clothes and accessories and feed him with the best and finest food ever. I splurged on him.

As for my 3rd boyfriend, I showed him off to everyone I met. I make sure that everyone knows of his good look and I keep making sure he has the best treatment to keep him looking young with good complexion and health. However, I always fear that he will leave me.

My 2nd boyfriend is my best friend. I tell him everything and confide in him when I am in problem or when I am sad. He is always so patient with me and stays with me and sees me through all my tough times.

#1 is always the dependable one. He is a loyal partner. He always keeps to virtuous actions and maintains my wealth. I love him least. I seldom took notice of him being around only until I am not well or when I am fearful and need spiritual comfort..

One day I realized that I am going to die. With much attachment I asked my 4th boyfriend whether he will follow me. He said “No way” and walked away.

I turned to my 3rd boyfriend and asked the same questions. “NO! Life is so good here. Why should I die with you? I will marry someone else and continue my good life.”

When my 2nd boyfriend came to see me, I told him I am dying and he has always been supportive and my confidante and will he dies with me? He said “No, but at most I can walk you to your grave”.

This time #1 heard all the conversations and he quietly said “Don’t be afraid, I will follow you and be with you and never leave you wherever you are”. Someone I have neglected and never take notice of, someone whom I have not given any attention is willing to die with me. I regretted I have not given much attention to him but he has been silently accumulating my virtues and wealth. I know that I am not alone and he will always be with me, ever.

In actual fact we truly have 4 boyfriends…

The 4th boyfriend is actually our Body. We always lavished on our Body and give it its best. The sad thing is Body will leave when we die.

My 3rd boyfriend is all my Possessions i.e Status and Wealth. I am so afraid I lose them but I am not able to take him with me, he will go to others’ arms.

My 2nd boyfriend is my Family and Friends. No matter how close we are, they will never want to die with me, at most send me to my grave.

My 1st boyfriend is my Spiritual endeavors. He is the least I pay attention to. When I spent so much time on Body, accumulating Possessions and running around Family and Friends, I have no time for Spiritual.

However Spiritual never leaves me. It stays and accumulates every little merit I did. With these, Spiritual follows me until I attained Realization for the benefits of all Beings. It is my final manifestation of Realty and Non-Duality.

So you have to take good care of all 4 of them. They need to sync to Spiritual. Know your priority and never lost track. Keep your focus on the final goal and good luck.

Countries in the World...

A little bit about geography here as I was curious about visitors from various countries to my blog. Actual fact my Blog is not open or make popular by my postings. I write just about anything I fancied or I want to express my feelings or opinion. However by checking I realized 145 countries have actually dropped by here, some repeatedly. Thank you all for your support!

Do you know how many countries are there in the World? Well my poster said it = 196 countries. Put aside those recognized by United Nation or by United States of America which is 193 countries and 195 countries respectively...geographically I take it as 196 countries.

However you may want to find out actually there are countries that are micro size. Some are just the size of a shopping mall. So interesting right?

You may want to know that the largest country on Earth is Russia and the tiny one is Vatican City whose size is about that of a golf course. Of course other smaller countries are Monaco, Nauru, Tuvalu and San Marino, just to name a few.
